Lean Teen Badge Requirements

In order to earn badges, Lean Teeners will need to review the requirements of the specific badge with their coach to ensure they have met all of the necessary components. If all requirements have been met, the coach will administer a written or oral exam to assess the teen's understanding of the material. Teen's will need to pass this exam with an 80% or higher grade with discretion from the coach. Not all badges will require an exam.

Fitness Badges:

Fitness Badge:

- must attend and participate in Lean Teen Fitness Test

- results must be recorded on your Fitness Log

Pilates Badge:

- Level 1: Intro

• 8+ classes on mat

- Level 2: Intermediate

• 8+ classes on reformer

- Level 3: Advanced/ Assistant Instructor*

• 30+ classes on reformer

Running Badge:

- Level 1: 100 miles

- Level 2: 250 miles

- Level 3: 500 miles

- Miles MUST be recorded on Daily Fitness Log.

Yoga Badge:

- Level 1: Intro

o 8+ class sessions beginner’s yoga level

- Level 2: Intermediate

o 8+ class sessions intermediate yoga level

- Level 3: Advanced/ Assistant Instructor*

o 30+ class sessions

*Assistant Instructors: Lean Teens will have the opportunity to assist a coach/instructor with teaching a class. This may also become a paid position.

Nutrition Badges

Cooking Basics Badge:

- Participation in Cooking Basics Class

- OR Post 3 months of meals cooked at home on your own to your daily nutrition log

- 80% of food must be GOOD food by discretion of your coach

- written/oral exam may be administered

Food Knowledge Badge:

- Post 3 months of healthy food on Daily Nutrition Log

- 80% of food must be GOOD food by discretion of your coach

- Written/Oral exam may be administered

Kitchen Skills Badge:

- Participation in Kitchen Skills Class & Exam

- OR 80% or better on written exam

Outdoor Adventure Badges

Biking Badge:

- Participation in Lean Teen Biking Adventure

- Must be able to identify safety procedures, parts of the bike, and know how to patch a flat tire

Hiking Badge:

- Must participate and complete 8 Guided Lean Teen Hiking Adventures

- Must be able to demonstrate navigation/safety techniques

Wellness Badges

CPR & First Aid Badges:

- Must participate in training/certification class

- OR Present current CPR/First Aid Certification to a coach

Personal Achievements Badges:

MVP Badge:

- shows above average athletic ability, strength, and mental attitude

- leads the group in any given activity

- goes above and beyond physical expectations

Team Player Award:

- great class attendance & participation

- positive attitude

- works well with all teammates or group members

- shows strong determination and motivates others
